Members are asked to serve on one committee, but are encouraged to participate in the events of any committee that interests them.
The Community Planning Committee identifies, plans, and organizes SJWC volunteer opportunities in the community. Some, such as Meals on Wheels and Souper Tuesday, are ongoing weekly or monthly commitments for the club. Others are one-time or annual events such as collecting for Lovable Huggables, baking for Cheese Day, packing lunches for the homeless at South Park Inn, or playing games and decorating cookies with seniors at Belden Forest. All club members are invited to participate in these events, Community Planning committee members lead them.
The Library Committee works with staff members in the Simsbury Public Library children's room to provide special events. The annual Teddy Bear Sleepover is the most well-known, but many other library events are run by the SJWC throughout the year. Mugs for Moms, the childrens art gallery, make a Valentine, Take Your Child to the Library Day scavenger hunt, and the annual hat and mitten tree are all sponsored and staffed by the Simsbury Junior Women's Club Library Committee.
The Luminary Night Committee plans and organizes SJWC's largest annual fundraiser, Luminary Night. All club members participate in selling and distributing Luminary Kits. Committee members arrange the purchasing of supplies, creating sales packets, marketing, and spearhead business sponsorships.
Each spring the new members that have joined in the past year are asked to complete a service project together. This helps to build relationships among the new members and immediately gets members involved in the work of the club. Past new member projects have included Ladybug Bash and closet renovation and restocking at the Simsbury ABC House.
